Focus and Scope

Journal of Asian Rural Asian Studies (J. Asian Rural Stud. - JARS) aims to provide a platform for academics, researchers, and practitioners to exchange/discuss theories, views, and research findings on social, economic, cultural, rural extension, communication, technological, ecological, and power-relation issues in rural Asia's areas of development. There is a strong geographic concentration on Asia in Journal of Asian Rural Asian Studies, but we also publish material from other parts of the world where it pertains to comparative or topical issues that affect the region.

Scientific articles dealing with rural life in broad terms (socio-economics, culture, indigenous knowledge, rural politics and government, and ecology) are very welcome. This journal encompasses original research articles, review articles, and short communications, including:

Peer Review Process

JARS will publish the only paper strictly following JARS guidelines and manuscript preparation. Those papers are read by editorial members (upon a field of specialization) and will be screened by the Editor with using Double Blind Peer-review to meet the necessary criteria of JARS publication. Manuscripts will be sent to two peer-reviewers based on their historical experience in reviewing a manuscript or based on their field of specialization. JARS  has reviewing forms in order to keep the same items reviewed by the reviewers. Then, the editorial board will make a decision upon the reviewers' comments or advice. Reviewers will give their assessment on originality, clarity of presentation, contribution to the field/science.

For checking Plagiarism, JARS encourages authorships to check plagiarism by http://turnitin.com/. If it is found plagiarism indication, the editorial board will reject the manuscript immediately.

Before publishing, It is required to obtain written confirmation from authors in order to acquire copyrights for papers published in the journal. Authors must sign the Transfer Copy Right form as follows: The undersigned hereby transfers any and all rights in and to the paper including without limitation all copyrights to Journal of Asian Rural Studies (JARS). The undersigned hereby represents and warrants that the paper is original and that he/she is the author of the paper, except for material that is clearly identified as to its original source, with permission notices from the copyright owners where required. The undersigned represents that he/she has the power and authority to make and execute this assignment. This agreement is to be signed by at least one of the authors who have obtained the assent of the co-author(s) where applicable.

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

 

Archiving

This journal utilizes the LOCKSS system to create a distributed archiving system among participating libraries and permits those libraries to create permanent archives of the journal for purposes of preservation and restoration. More...
